Did you know that the human microbiome weighs between 2-6 pounds? That’s a whole lot of bacteria we’re carrying around! In fact, we humans are mostly microbes, with the number of bacterial cells outnumbering our human cells about ten to one!

We’re only beginning to understand the importance of having a healthy microbiome and the role that our gut bacteria play in our overall health and predisposition to a disease.

The microbes in our microbiome help us:

  1. Digest food
  2. Regulate our immune system responses
  3. Protect against pathogenic bacteria
  4. Produce important vitamins such as vitamin B12, thiamine, riboflavin, and vitamin K

An unhealthy microbiome has been linked to several different diseases and disorders including autoimmunity, depression and anxiety, diabetes, obesity, dental problems, bowel disorders, cancer, and more.

Clearly, we need to do our best to maintain a healthy microbiome! But what does this look like?

Ideally, our gut contains roughly 80% “good” probiotic bacteria and 20% “bad” pathogenic bacteria… This is what a healthy gut looks like. Unfortunately, this ratio is reversed in most people, who don’t have nearly enough probiotics and too many disease-causing bacteria inhabiting their bodies.

Thankfully, we live in a time where probiotics are available over-the-counter in pill form, which makes it simple to support a healthy microbiome by simply popping a few pills!* It’s important to realize, however, that not all probiotics are created equal. Many are made from inferior strains or are no longer alive after you purchase them months after they’ve been manufactured.

At Connor Wellness Clinic, we go to great lengths to provide you with fresh, living probiotics. We take gut health seriously, for, without it, one cannot be truly well!

We have a variety of probiotic supplements to choose from. Here’s a rundown of our most popular products.
